A2 Holiday Work

Lots of stories and programmes about Rupert Murdoch and News Corp around at the moment. Try to watch some - preferably record some - as he will feature quite heavily after Christmas when we start to study 'Media in the Online Age' . There is one on tonight on ITV at 7:30 and one on Radio 4 at 7pm Saturday.

Work to have completed for September.
Location shots
Mood boards
Research into film posters in the same genre as your trailer
Research the genre
Research various types of story boards - look at some exemplars
Keep your own notes off blog until I have checked everything - ready to blog in September.

A2 Media news stories to check out

As mentioned in the lesson, keep an eye out for media stories relating to Media in the online age. Newsbin and Google Plus - Google attempt to grab a slice of the social networking market and challenge fb.

A2 and next year's A2

Read about the release of Kaiser Chiefs new album with ref to Media in the online age and how they were burned with the release of their last album. Good up-to-date story to illustrate a point about the problems of piracy etc.

Creative Commons

Arron found a brilliant youtube clip to explain the concept of 'Creative Commons'. Good work, Arron! (Useful too, as background knowledge for A2 ' Media in the Online Age')

Watch this. (Less than 4minutes)

Quite a good clip for summing up stock film conventions. Funny too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbhrz1-4hN4 Mrs H

A2 and AS Listen to this!

This interview lasts about 20 minutes. Listen to it and make notes. Try to get the key arguments and names to quote as evidence. Add the contributor to your followed blogs if you haven't already done so.

Creative Commons for AS and A2

If you get a question about piracy, copyright or file-sharing, it would be relevant to mention Creative Commons Licensing. (Look it up!)

Mrs H
Check this out for relevance to 'Media in the Online Age' (A2) and possibly relevant for AS in relation to challenges to traditional exchange processes in the music industry.

AS Record Store Day

Soundclash is one of the last Independent record shops in East Anglia and was opened in February 1991.

TheD Norwich city centre shop specialises in new releases, independent and underground music from around the world on vinyl and CD and is also the frontline city centre stockist for gig and festival tickets, DVDs, magazines, record boxes, bags and cases, music accessories and related products along with high quality previously loved vinyl and CDs and a few books.

Soundclash was named one of Britains best small shops by the Guardian in 2007 and offers a unique shopping experience, allowing customers to listen to vinyl or CDs in store before purchasing, offering expertise, recommendations and a high quality personalised service, selling products that are hard to obtain at competitive prices.

Soundclash is the only city centre ticket outlet for UEA LCR and the Waterfront venues and many local and national events including festivals.

The shop is complemented by an online purchasing facility. Just get in touch if there is something you would like to purchase and have shipped to you.

Independent record shops have been increasingly challenged from all sides which is why so many have gone out of business - a big thank you to all the loyal customers who understand that they need to use us or lose us! If you haven't been in for a while – or ever, come in and find out why customers from all over East Anglia have come back again and again for the last 20 years!
